Start with Lanterns
Start with three large lanterns. Choose a variety of Pillar Candles in the colors of your choice. We recommend a classic ivory combined with bright spring colors like Honeysuckle, Petal Pink or Aquamarine.
Create a Floral Topper
While silk flowers can be a controversial topic, not everyone has a green thumb (us included!). And you want your welcoming porch decor to last through the whole season. So we recommend using silk flowers for this project. You’ll want to choose a good amount of flowers and greenery so that you have enough to create three separate floral pieces. You’ll also need floral tape and wire to hold your piece together.
Begin by taping together a couple stems of greenery midway down the stems. One by one, add flowers of different size and texture to the taped greenery bunch, taping each flower in place so that you end up with an even bunch of greenery and flowers. Depending on what’s easier for you and your floral arrangement, tape or wire in your largest flowers to the very middle of the arrangement. This will cover up any visible floral tape or stems that look out of place.
Attach Your Floral Toppers
Once you created your floral toppers, it’s time to attach them to the lanterns. Using floral wire, string a piece through the base of your topper and secure it to the lantern. You may have to string several wires through the flowers to secure them to the lantern.
Once all of your lanterns are put together, arrange them on your porch. Stagger two lanterns on one side of your door and one on the other.
Add a matching wreath to the door and a “Hello Spring!” sign to welcome your springtime guests.
